In a P300-based BCI, (visual) stimuli are presented to the user, and the intention of the user is recognized when a P300 potential is recognized in response of the desired stimulus. In order to improve accuracy, many stimulation rounds are usually performed before making a decision. The exact number of repetitions depends on the user and the goodness of the classifier, but it is usually fixed a-priori. To acquire the data needed for the thesis 2 to 3 different subjects perform 2 to 3 sessions each.&lt;br /&gt;
Each session consists of a number of 15 to 20 stimulation rounds for each character. Since each stimulation takes 125ms and we have to record data related to 10 word of 10 character each, each session takes approximately 2 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
For each subject, the first session is offline, which means that the classifier is not running and we just record the data from the BCI. During this phase the letters that the subject &amp;quot;watches&amp;quot; are pre-assigned.&lt;br /&gt;
The other sessions, instead, are online and the classifier tries to detect wich character is being thought by the user.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Even if no accident has been reported in politecnico while using an EEG, connecting a human head to an electrical device via electrodes could potentially lead to electrical shock. More information about the risk of the EEG could be find [http://openeeg.sourceforge.net/doc/WARNING.html here], (note that it is not the same device that we use for these experiments).&lt;br /&gt;

Durante l'incontro abbiamo stabilito la quantità di dati necessari allo sviluppo dell'algoritmo e di conseguenza è stata pianificata l'attività di laboratorio che dovrebbe svolgersi dopo il 16/07. Abbiamo deciso  che si procederà all'analisi di 2 o 3 soggetti che verranno sottoposti a 2 o 3 sessioni l'uno. La prima sessione di ogni soggetto sarà effettuata offline mentre le altre due online, in tutte le sessioni si procederà a 15/20 stimolazioni per ogni carattere su stringhe di 10 caratteri. Si è di conseguenza calcolato che la durata approssimativa di ogni sessione sarà di circa due ore. Il dott. Dalseno mi ha consegnato del materiale riguardante i precedenti studi effettuati al politecnico di Milano sui potenziali p300 ed il potenziale d'errore, oltre che altri scritti riguardanti lo studio e l'uso del potenziale p300.&lt;br /&gt;
Mi sono state mostrate alcune funzioni matlab sviluppate nei precedenti lavori sulla bci ed in particolare la struttura dati relativa ai campioni raccolti durante un analisi.&lt;br /&gt;

Le sessioni di laboratorio svolte tra il 27/07/09 e il 6/08/09 hanno portato all'analisi di 4 soggetti. &lt;br /&gt;
Per tutti i soggetti è stata effettuata una prima sessione per la raccolta dei dati utili all'addestramento del classificatore (come ovvia conseguenza si ha che la prima sessione di tutti i soggetti è stata effettuata senza l'utilizzo di un classificatore). Per 3 dei 4 soggetti si è svolta una seconda sessione utilizzando il classificatore addestrato sui dati della prima, nella maggior parte dei casi il classificatore ha dato buoni risultati.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>

To acquire the data needed for the thesis 2 to 3 different subjects perform 2 to 3 sessions each.&lt;br /&gt;
Each session consists of a number of 15 to 20 stimulation rounds for each character. Since each stimulation takes 125ms and we have to record data related to 10 word of 10 character each, each session takes approximately 2 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
For each subject, the first session is offline, which means that the classifier is not running and we just record the data from the BCI. During this phase the letters that the subject &amp;quot;watches&amp;quot; are pre-assigned.&lt;br /&gt;
The other sessions, instead, are online and the classifier tries to detect wich character is being thought by the user.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Even if no accident has been reported in politecnico while using an EEG, connecting a human head to an electrical device via electrodes could potentially lead to electrical shock. Durante l'incontro abbiamo stabilito la quantità di dati necessari allo sviluppo dell'algoritmo e di conseguenza è stata pianificata l'attività di laboratorio che dovrebbe svolgersi dopo il 16/07.  Il dot. Dalseno mi ha consegnato del materiale riguardante i precedenti studi effettuati al politecnico di Milano sui potenziali p300 ed il potenziale d'errore oltre che altri scritti riguardanti lo studio e l'uso del potenziale p300.&lt;br /&gt;
Mi sono state mostrate alcune funzioni matlab sviluppate nei precedenti lavori sulla bci ed in particolare la struttura dati relativa ai campioni raccolti durante un analisi.&lt;br /&gt;

To acquire the data needed for the thesis 2 to 3 different subjects perform 2 to 3 sessions each.&lt;br /&gt;
Each session consists of a number of 15 to 20 stimulation rounds for each character. Since each stimulation takes 125ms and we have to record data related to 10 word of 10 character each, each session takes approximately 2 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
For each subject, the first session is offline, which means that the classifier is not running and we just record the data from the BCI. During this phase the letters that the subject &amp;quot;watches&amp;quot; are pre-assigned.&lt;br /&gt;
