During exploration of unknown environments using autonomous mobile robots, integration of perceptions in a global map and decisions about where to move next could be made in a continuous or in a discrete fashion. The goal of this project is to experimentally study the effects of continuous or discrete perception and decision on the performance of exploration. Experimental activities will be conducted in simulation using ROS and Stage.

Daniele Tortorella is working on this project.
